I gradutated from Arvin High School with the class of 1960. My trade is in General Building. I consider the construction of many homes in Bakersfield as my greatest accomplishment since graduating from Arvin High.
I married Betty Jean Cole and we have been married for 44 years. We have three children: Sandra, John Jr., and Brian. We also have 10 grandchildren.
My most memorable high school experience in high school was the time I went to Mexico with friends to cross the border – all of us under age. We were locked up in a cell while they called our parents to come get us.
I like to snow ski, water ski, go camping and fishing. I also have a special interest in music. I have enjoyed traveling over the years and I have been across the United States to Florida, and I have also been to Canada and Mexico.
The funniest thing that has happened to me since high school was when I fell off a small boat off the coast. Only my grandson was up front in the boat and I fell off in the back and he didn’t notice it until the boat, still running, started going around in a circle. He then got control of the boat and went back for me. I came up with all my clothes on, my wallet and cell phone and looking like a drowned rat!! Everyone got quite a laugh at me.
