Gee — how do you compress 45 years into a few words?
Well, my Mom was a widow, so there was not much money available for school, but by choosing nursing and working, combined with my scholarships from high school, I was ready to earn a living by 1963. Medicine is forever fascinating, and it has served me well as a career. I still work part time in an office with a great spine surgeon, but am about ready to retire, so I can do things on my own schedule for a change.
I met my husband in 1963, and we started our family of a girl, Kerry, and a boy, Steven. Kerry and her husband, Alan (an Aussie), are schoolteachers and live in Victorville, CA. Steve followed in his Dad's footsteps and became a deputy sheriff. He and his wife Ann live here in Thurston County. Tom and I shared a love of history (Thanks, Mrs. Mac), so we did a lot of traveling. I've been to every state except two and 19 countries. Add 9 cruises to all of that, and believe it or not, I still have a "To Do" list. Anyone want to go snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef??
We moved to Washington State in 1978 trying to find a more wholesome atmosphere for our family, and it's a beautiful place for hiking and boating. I belong to a hiking club called The Wanderers, and really enjoy seeing some of nature's beautiful places.
I lost my husband to cancer almost 7 years ago. We were married over 35 years. But my life is enriched by my two little blond granddaughters who live nearby.
I know that a lot of people could care less about reconnecting with people from their childhood, but sometimes there are funny and poignant memories that are special to recall. I want to thank Carlos and Donna for their great work in putting this site together for us. Let's do what we can to get in touch with as many classmates as possible, and all of us Medicare Recipients can plan for a great 50th reunion! Let's see, we'll have to make really BIG name tags, so we can recognize one another.
I wonder how much blackmail money I can get for a picture of John Mitchell and Gene Lundquist in their church choir robes???
Can you find Gene Lundquist and John Mitchell?
