I am retired from Bank of America where my last title was Vice President, Consultant Applications Programming or something like that. My last job dealt with interstate teller transactions. Now I can pursue my four major areas of interest (in no particular order):
1. Music, I study flute and still play some piano.
2. Foreign Language: My knowledge of Romance languages languish but will return if I travel to where I can use them (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese). Now I’m teaching myself Arabic.
3. Cooking, I enjoy entertaining and concentrate mostly on Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on the food of Spain.
4. Photography, my interest really took off last year when I toured South Africa.
Of course travel will be a part of my retirement plans. I read voraciously. I can say I’ve visited Iguaçu Falls in South America, Victoria Falls in Africa, and I have never been to Niagara Falls.
Now that I am retired, I have to decide what I want to be when I grow up.
As for updates on other classmates, I don’t really keep up with anyone from Arvin High, and just a handful from my college years. However, Jane Gilchrist and I always seem to phone when there is family news like the deaths of our parents who were good friends. Fred Garrison and John Mitchell attended my mother’s funeral and I had an opportunity to visit briefly with them in January 2001.
Why is it that men age and the women do not? I can tell you, Carlos, that our beards match although I confess mine is whiter.
I wish you all the best and look forward to browsing your well conceive and executed website.
