I have been married to Allen Anderson for 43 years. We have two children, Allen Chase Anderson and Wendy Jo Anderson Stowers. I’m Nana to my grandchildren, Ryan Chase Anderson 15, Macee Jo Stowers 6, and Sydnee Stowers 4. Both our children work and live in Bakersfield (that makes us very lucky parents). Our son works as a specialty person for GPS & Co., and our daughter is a teacher at Lakeside Elementary School.
I worked for the Kern county Superintendent of School for 36 years. I am now enjoying retirement. I taught for the Child Development Services in Lamont, Bakersfield and Greenfield. The last four years before I retired I taught children with autism for the County Office of Special Education Program. I still enjoy working with children, so now I volunteer in both Macee and Sydnee’s classes.
For over fifteen years my husband’s softball games took up most of our free time. Softball games were a family affair and our children could not wait to go out of town to a softball tournament. What good family times we had. Now we go to my grandson’s baseball tournaments and granddaughters’ cheerleading competitions and dance recitals.
For thirty years the Anderson families have gone to Lake Tahoe for a weeks vacation. Each family rents their own condo and fills the condos with family and friends. If the old Andersons wanted to stop, the kids won’t let us and now the grandchildren won’t let us.
My retirement gift from my husband was a 36 ft. 5th Wheel. What a surprise and what fun we have staying at Pismo Coast Village with the grandchildren. We go over to the beach at least once a month.
Living with Allen for 43 years has never been boring or dull. I guess that’s what keeps us going. My hair lady says that we do more then they do and they are only 35.
