I married Wayne Sexton February 1960. He worked for Arvin Bank of America. I was working part time for Millers Drug Store. I would go to the bank to cash my checks or make a deposit and he always waited on me, I thought he had money and he thought I had money. We were both wrong but have now been partners for forty seven years. We will celebrate our “50th” the same year as our reunion.
We have two children, a daughter who lives in Bakersfield with her husband and the three grandchildren ages twenty one, nineteen and fourteen. Our son lives in Porterville with his wife and two children ages ten and seven.
I worked as a medical secretary for most of the working years and Wayne retired from banking at age sixty. We have traveled to several countries and taken numerous cruises. One of our most memorable trips was flying to Prudoe Bay in Alaska and working our way down the Alaskan Pipeline of which 500 miles was on a gravel road. Another was Australia and New Zealand trips. We have a motor home, but not like “Beaver” Bill Williams, however it is large and we enjoy it.
I am very active in California Garden Clubs, Inc., over 22,000 members in California. I have seen a lot of California as I attend meetings all over thee state. I am the treasurer of the organization and although a lot of work I have made many friends. You are encouraged to join a club and can probably find one in your hometown. Also our web site is www.California Garden Clubs, Inc. @ net.org. I am also a Paul Harris member of Rotary.
I enjoy oil painting but not talented like Sharon Smotherman and my current hobby is making porcelain dolls. The three granddaughters all have keepsakes and I have all the fun.
